Research, Analytics & Reports
RERC was the nation’s first real estate firm that specialized in both real estate research and analysis. Recognized for integrating key sections of the economy that influenced the real estate industry, RERC’s studies on community planning, the effect of highways on the suburbs, and downtown revitalization efforts contributed greatly to the rebuilding of the U.S. infrastructure after WWII.
In 1973, one of RERC’s most enduring studies, the RERC Real Estate Report was published. Originally developed as an economic and real estate newsletter for business, government, and investors, the quarterly RERC Real Estate Report is now one of the commercial real estate industry’s most respected and relied-upon survey-based resources of investment analysis. The report provides a variety of investment measures, including buy-sell-hold recommendations, availability and discipline of capital, investment conditions, and value vs. price and risk vs. return ratings, as well as going-in and terminal capitalization rates, pre-tax yield rates, and rental growth expectations for the institutional market, regional markets, and for 48 metropolitan markets. In 2005, RERC began publishing the RERC/CCIM Investment Trends Quarterly, a transaction-based report detailing commercial real estate volume and pricing averages. Published for members of the CCIM Institute, the report examines the national market, as well as regional markets. RERC also initiated Emerging Trends in Real Estate, one of the industry’s most well-known investment forecast reports, and spearheaded the research and insights in this report for 20 years. RERC sold this report in 2000, after which time RERC initiated the annual forecast report, the RERC Industry Outlook. For the past 7 years, RERC has produced Expectations & Market Realities in Real Estate, one of the industry’s most comprehensive forecast reports, which analyzes the economy, the capital markets, and the major commercial property sectors.
RERC’s research is also available through the RERC DataCenter™, an interactive web-based data source. Available to members from any location with Internet access, the service offers current and historical data, the convenience of customized charting of the data, and library functionality.
