Riggs Elected 2010 Second Vice Chair: Headed for CRE Chairmanship

Kenneth P. Riggs, Jr., CRE, has been elected 2010 second vice chair of The Counselors of Real Estate, setting him on the path for the 2012 CRE chairmanship.

Elected at The Counselors of Real Estate's recent 2009 Midyear Meetings in New York City, Riggs is expected to serve as CRE first vice chair in 2011.

"I am honored, humbled and appreciative to be chosen at this critical juncture to help lead the organization in the post credit crisis era and during this period when we embrace a new strategic plan," said Riggs. "This is a challenging world that we live in, and together we shoulder the profound changes that will impact the real estate industry and the organization during the years ahead."

Riggs joined The Counselors in 1995, and has served on various committees including education, executive, strategic planning, leadership, international, and budget/finance, among others. He also has served on the Board of Directors.

As president and CEO of Real Estate Research Corporation (RERC), Chicago, since 1991, Riggs' specialties include independent fiduciary services, investment research, and institutional valuation strategies, with a focus on providing clients and the industry overall with an analytical but practical approach to commercial real estate investment. He serves as publisher of the RERC Real Estate Report and the RERC/CCIM Investment Trends Quarterly and as co-publisher of the annual forecast report, Expectations & Market Realities in Real Estate. In 2007, Riggs was named one of real estate's 25 most influential thought leaders by the National Association of REALTORS®. he holds a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and statistics from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
